Straight answers

The questions people actually ask.

Mostly about money, which is fair enough.

How much will it actually cost me?
Starting prices for every service are published on this site, so you don't have to book a call to find out roughly what you'll pay. Sole traders start at £30 a month and limited companies at £190. Your final fee depends on how many transactions you have and how tidy the records are, which is why two businesses on the same package can pay different amounts. Whatever yours works out at, I agree it with you in writing before any work starts, and it doesn't change unless the scope does.
Why a monthly fee instead of one bill a year?
Because nobody likes a large accountancy bill arriving all at once. A monthly fee keeps your costs predictable, makes cashflow easier to manage, and means the work is dealt with throughout the year rather than left until the last minute. It also usually works out cheaper than paying for each service individually.
Are you qualified?
Yes. I'm MAAT qualified, a full member of the Association of Accounting Technicians, and the AAT supervises me for anti-money-laundering. I hold professional indemnity insurance and I'm a Xero Level 3 Specialist, QuickBooks Level 2 certified and a Sage partner. Behind that is seven years in practice and three years in industry.
Where are you based, and do you work with businesses elsewhere?
I'm based in Canterbury and work with clients across the UK. Most of what I do runs perfectly well remotely, but if you're local and would rather sit down together, that's easily arranged.
Do I need to be VAT registered to work with you?
No. Plenty of my clients are below the threshold. If you're getting close to it, I'll tell you before you cross it rather than after.
I've taken on staff. Does that push me up a package?
Not automatically. Each package covers payroll for a set number of people, and anyone beyond that is £7 each per month rather than a jump to the next tier. Sometimes the tier above does work out better value, and where that's the case the package finder shows you both so you can compare them properly.
Which software do you use?
Xero, QuickBooks or Sage, whichever suits you best. I'm a Xero Level 3 Specialist, QuickBooks Level 2 certified and a Sage partner. On the Essentials plans and above your licence is included in the monthly fee, so there's no separate subscription to pay.
I'm already with another accountant. Is switching a hassle?
Not for you. I write to your current accountant for professional clearance and your records, then register as your agent with HMRC. You sign two forms and I handle the rest.
What if I don't know which package I need?
That's completely normal, and most people don't when they first get in touch. The package finder takes about a minute and will point you at the right one. Or just message me and I'll tell you straight, including when the cheapest option is the one you want.Get in touch
