One accountant, not a firm

You’re never just
a number here.

Choosing an accountant makes a real difference to a small business. I keep Red Roman deliberately small so that the person who knows your business is the person doing the work.

Who you’ll be dealing with

Hello, I’m Tom Davison.

Seven years in practice and three years in industry means I’ve seen the numbers from both sides: how they get produced and how they are used to run a business effectively. I’m MAAT qualified and specialised in audits and working with sole traders, owner-managed companies, consultants and start-ups, although I’ve worked with businesses across a wide range of industries. I take deadlines seriously too: every filing deadline I’ve been responsible for has been met on time, and none of my clients has ever picked up a late-filing penalty.

I run Red Roman on my own, deliberately. It means I get to know every client and their business properly, and when you get in touch, you’re always speaking directly to the person actually doing the work.

I also don’t believe accountancy needs to be complicated or overly formal. I’ll explain things in plain English, give you a straight answer, and if the cheapest option is genuinely the best one for you, I’ll tell you.

I mostly work with

  • Sole traders
  • Owner-managed companies
  • Consultants
  • Startups

Why people stay

Choosing an accountant is mostly about whether you trust them to pick up the phone.

Four things I'd want to know before handing over my books.

01

You get me, not a call centre

That mobile number in the header is mine. You won't be handed to whoever happened to pick up the phone, and you won't have to explain your business twice.

02

Transparent pricing, up front

Starting prices for everything are on the site, so you know roughly what it costs before you call. Your own fee depends on volume and complexity, and it's agreed in writing before any work starts.

03

Deadlines are my problem, not yours

VAT, RTI, payroll, accounts, Corporation Tax and the Confirmation Statement. I track every filing and payment date, remind you well ahead of time, and make sure nothing slips.

04

Advice you can act on

Producing the figures is the easy part. The useful part is spotting where the business is leaking money, and telling you about it in plain English.

Switching over

Already with an accountant? Changing is easier than staying put.

You do not need to wait for your year end, or have the awkward conversation.

  1. 1

    Tell me what you've got

A ten-minute call or a WhatsApp message is enough for me to quote properly.

  2. 2

    I do the awkward bit

I write to your current accountant, get your records, and register as your agent with HMRC. You sign two forms.

  3. 3

Your fee starts, your deadlines don't move

Fixed monthly fee agreed in writing, or a one-off fee if you would rather. Software licence set up if you need one, and every filing and payment date in the diary from day one.

Let’s work out what you need,
and what it costs.

No obligation, no sales pitch, and no charge for the conversation. If a cheaper package is the right one for you, I’ll say so.

Or call 07944 022 480. That’s my mobile, and I answer it.
